39.3 Miles!

I got back on Monday from a fun-filled two day walk in beautiful Santa Barbara, California, for the 10th Anniversary Avon Walk for Breast Cancer!

The Trekkin' for Ta-Tas team - Captain Sue Lyn, The Machine Laura, and Squirrel Diana enjoyed the sunshine, ocean view, and friends we met along the way!

I'm proud to say I made it the full 26 miles on the first day - lots of gradual hills kicked my butt, and the humidity was no fun, but I made it - with a blister or two to prove it!

We met an amazing lady named Barbara Jo Kirshbaum who has been walking in the Avon as well as the Komen walks for 15 years . . . . .  raising more than 1 million dollars in donations!

Day 2 was a gorgeous sunny day, and only 13 miles to the finish line!  The total for both days came in at 39.3 miles.

I'm happy to know these great gals, and proud that with wonderful support from our families and friends, we were able to raise more than $6,000 for the fight against breast cancer!

Heading to Santa Barbara!

Tomorrow I'm off to Santa Barbara for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer!  This is the 10th year for this walk, and my first time doing the Avon walk.  I'm looking forward to meeting up with the Trekkin' for Ta-Tas team - Sue Lyn Maves and Diana Gabaldon.  The picture above is from last year's Komen 3-Day when Diana and I worked as route markers.

Here it is, by the numbers . . . . . .

1 - night we'll spend in a pink tent

2 - days walking

3 - miles between pit stops

39 - total miles we'll walk

451 - miles I've walked since last November

$1,825.50 - donations I received

$6,084.80 - donations our team collected

Saturday and Sunday I will be walking:

For the 1 in 8 who will be diagnosed with breast cancer

In memory of my Mom - a two time breast cancer survivor

In memory of my Aunt Phyllis, Aunt Bernadine, great Aunt Grace, Cousin Linda

In honor of my cousins-in-law Konnie, and Kris

Thank you to the many friends who have supported me in reaching my goal and allowing me to walk.  I'll have lots of pictures and memories to share when I return!
