A Moment of Temporary Insanity!

In a moment of weakness, I have signed up for the 2012 Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure in San Diego.

Perhaps I did it because I like getting all blinged and pinked out . . . . . .

Or because I know I'll see my out of town Trekkin' for Ta-Tas sisters who will also be walking . . .

Or maybe it's because you meet incredible ladies (and men) who have amazing stories to share . . . .

And it also has something to do with cute dogs along the route who are decked out in pink . . . .

The exciting Opening Ceremony makes you want to come back for more . . . . .

The emotional Closing Ceremony that is guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes . . . . .

I know part of my reason is walking in memory of my Mom, and other family members . . . . . .

And who can forget seeing cute guys who aren't afraid to wear pink . . . . . .

Roll all of that together plus many more reasons, and I decided another 60 mile trek is in my future. My trainer is excited to get out on the trail and get me in shape!

If you'd like to help me reach the $2,300 that every walker must raise, please visit my donation page! I'm sure you have several reasons to give . . . . . . probably within your own family or circle of friends.

Stop back in to see how my training is doing!

On the Crew!

The 2011 Arizona 3-Day for the Cure was held last weekend. After walking it last year, I thought it would be fun to be on the crew this year. Diana came down from Oregon, and we were on the Route Marking Crew.

Because we basically worked a day ahead of the walkers, our job started on Thursday.

In our free time, we were able to cheer on the walkers, and visit Pit Stops. It was a great four days, and we enjoyed seeing some of the same walkers from last year as well as crew members we recognized from last year's walk.

Here is a Shutterfly photo book I made from our fun weekend!

Thank You!

Ask and you shall receive! Thanks to the friends who donated money toward my goal, and in turn, received a cosmetic bag. I'm more than half way to my $300 goal!

They are GONE! But the three cute cat fabric totebags are still available for a $25 donation to Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure!

I will be adding more freebies-with-donation as I have time to make them!

Free Cat Totebag!

As a crew member, I'm not required to raise the $2,300 that I had to raise last year. However, the word on the street is that most crew members raise an average of $250.

I've set a goal of $300, and I've got a great deal going on right now. Every person that donates $25 toward my goal will receive a cute cotton cat totebag! These totebags are handmade by me and are perfect for taking your lunch, book, and trekkin' shoes to work.

They are lighweight, but have french seams for extra strength and no fraying!

I'll be picking out which tote to send you - I've got lots of other cute cat fabrics - these are only two that I've currently finished.

What are you waiting for? You know you can never have enough totebags - so head over and make a donation to a very worthy cause!

Thank you!

Going Back for More!

Tonight I registered for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure! But, unlike last year when I trained for months, raised over $2,300, and then walked 60 miles over three days, this year I'll be on the crew!

I'm going back to Arizona for the November 11-13 walk in a different capacity. I'm really looking forward to being involved and making new connections.

The 3-Day is also getting a new National Spokesperson this year. I knew I probably didn't have a chance, but I auditioned anyway! Over 250 people sent in audition tapes, and the semi-finalists were interviewed a couple of days ago. When I didn't make it as a semi-finalist, I knew the next best thing for me would be to crew.

The 3-Day crew does everything from working at the camp to manning the pit stops along the route.

The Trekkin' for Ta-Tas team that I walked with last year is planning to walk in Atlanta this year. This walk takes place in 14 cities across the country, if this type of event is on your bucket list. It is a life-changing experience, and I encourage you to give it a try!
